CPAT
The Fire Science Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) test is a pass/fail test of eight critical physical tasks that simulate actual job duties on the fireground:
- Stair Climb
- Hose Drag
- Equipment Carry
- Ladder Raise and Extension
- Forcible Entry
- Search
- Rescue
- Ceiling Breach and Pull
CPAT tests major areas of physical fitness: flexibility, cardiopulmonary endurance, muscular strength and muscular endurance. Candidates wear a 50-pound pack during the test.
See the CPAT Test Preparation Guide for training tips and exercises, and the CPAT Orientation Guide for more information.

To register, bring the completed 2022 CPAT Disclosure form and hand carry to the GCC Public Safety Science office. If this is a renewal, please bring the CPAT card, which was issued to you when you passed your last CPAT test. You must register in person to sign the waivers (no phone, mail or fax registrations).
All orientations, practice tests and CPAT tests will be held at:
