Dance

The GCC Dance Program provides professional dance training and recreational classes for students of all ages and levels. Our faculty teach what they love- innovative choreography, technical skill and expressive performance- in a safe and encouraging environment.

Are you majoring in Dance?

GCC offers an Associate in Fine Arts (AAFA), Emphasis in Dance degree. This two-year course of study provides a solid foundation in technique, performance and academic studies. All prospective Dance Majors should meet with a Dance advisor before enrolling in classes. The performing arts advisors are experts in organizing your class schedule every semester to keep you on track to meet your program requirements quickly.

We bring in multiple guest artists from around the country each semester to work with our student dance company, Verve Dance Company. All students and members of the community are invited to audition at the end of each semester for placement in the company. Whether your interest is professional dance training or dance classes for fun, there is something for you at GCC Dance! For more information, please contact Dance Program Director Rebecca Rabideau at rebecca.rabideau@gccaz.edu or 623-845-4905.

Verve Dance Company

Verve, the resident dance company at GCC, combines rigorous training and practice with the expert instruction of resident faculty and visiting master artists. VERVE dancers perform as guest artists with the Arizona Dance Festival and Center Dance Ensemble and have been accepted into four-year dance programs such as the University of Arizona and the University of Utah. VERVE’s original choreography and performances have received accolades and recognition within the Maricopa Community College District and in the larger southwest region.
