Exercise is Medicine on Campus
GCC Awarded the Gold-level Exercise is Medicine Campus Recognition
In March 2021, GCC was awarded the gold-level Exercise is Medicine campus recognition by the American College of Sports Medicine.
As part of the EIM-On Campus initiative, we want to make sure that qualified fitness professionals are available on our campus to serve the needs of the campus community, which includes employees, students, and the general public. We embrace the notion that movement matters for health and wellness.
We Train the Professionals
Students have numerous Exercise Science and Personal Training certificate and degree programs to choose from. We prepare our students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to train individuals or groups. These trainers and coaches can immediately enter the workforce or transfer to a university and finish programs in Exercise and Wellness, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, and Dietetics, just to name a few.
Qualified Staff and Great Facilities
We hire only the most qualified fitness professionals who share their knowledge, skills and abilities with employees, students and the local community. The Adapted Fitness Center designs fitness programs for individuals with disabilities. The Fitness Centers on the Main and North campus feature cardio and strength equipment and a myriad of specialty fitness classes including yoga, cycling, swimming, and boot camp-style sessions. We also offer mind/body, wellness and recreation classes. Our Physical Activity (PED) classes include line dancing, hiking, camping, Pilates...you name it, we have it! The aquatics schedule includes swim lessons, open lap swim and group classes. The Sports Performance Lab offers advanced fitness testing for our local amateur and professional athletes.
