Diversity Event Information
HB2906, Critical Race Theory and You Informational Event
Educational spaces can be difficult as we learn about and educate others on various histories and the impacts of those histories in our present lives. Receiving so many messages about the meanings and impacts of various concepts daily can leave us a little confused. So, we want to take a brief moment to discuss some vital changes to higher education and how these might impact YOU! So, if you have ever wondered what Critical Race Theory and HB2906 are and/or how these impact you here at GCC as a student or employee, please watch this Town Hall event recorded on Wednesday, September 22nd where faculty and staff attempt to untangle and explain these complex issues and how they might impact the college.

Diversity Advisory Council Awards of Excellence
Each year, the GCC campus nominates individuals and group projects for the Diversity Alliance Council Award of Excellence. This prize highlights individuals and projects being done at the campus level, which foster an environment of inclusivity where diverse groups are recognized and appreciated. From these nominations, the Diversity Committee then selects a single winner who will attend March's Diversity Alliance Council's Award Event. This year, the winner and nominees are:
2021/2022 Academic Year Winner: Lisa Worthy, David Boninger, Mari Willeman, and Ladonna Lewis! (SOAR)
This year, Lisa Worthy, David Boninger, Mari Willeman, and Ladonna Lewis won for their incredible work with the "Skills, Opportunity, Achievement through Research" (SOAR) project at Glendale Community College. GCC Diversity Committee Remembers Ed Pastor
The Diversity Committee honors Ed Pastor's memory. We are grateful for his willingness to speak to our students about the importance of voting. He urged students to be civically engaged and active in creating a better community for all. He left an imprint on others through his selfless leadership, compassion, and countless acts of humanitarianism. He will always be remembered for the beautiful legacy he etched upon our community college students and all the lives he touched. He moved beyond politics and proved to be a strong supporter of education. We appreciate everything you did for us and our students Congressman. What an incredible life lived!
