Hi y’all! My name is Rachel and I’m a Biology major here at GCC. I’ve also been an honors student and am a current PTK member. After graduating in Spring ‘25 I will be transferring to ASU to continue my education and get my Bachelors in Biology and minor in Environmental Science. Eventually, I’d like to work in wildlife conservation with a focus in reptiles and amphibians.

I also have worked at GCC as a Student Ambassador so I’m very familiar with the resources available on campus. As a coach I enjoy helping my students plan for their futures and achieve their goals. Navigating college can be challenging but I’d love to help you on your journey!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Colton and I’m currently completing my Accounting and Business Degrees here at GCC. I have been a part of Honors and a current member of PTK as part of my time here at GCC. I plan to graduate from GCC in Spring ‘25 and transfer to Arizona State University to get a Bachelors Degree in Accountancy. Eventually I would like to become a Certified Public Accountant and help others become successful in their financial journey.

I have also worked here at GCC as a Student Ambassador, so I’m very familiar with the campus, enrollment process, and any resources students may need while they are here. Being a coach here gives me the opportunity to help give back to the community by providing students support so they can graduate and achieve their dreams. Being a college student can be very difficult, but as a coach that's why I’m here to help!!!

Hello, my name is Rorvis (pronounced roar-vis) Gilmore Jr. I have earned my Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Organizational Communication from Northern Arizona University. I am very passionate about helping students become the superstars I know that they are. After nearly 2 years as a Student Ambassador at EMCC, I have to be in the field of student success/affairs to feel I am contributing to my community. I am an energetic, fun loving person that loves giving people positive energy to make their lives better. As a success coach, I hope to be able to do these things for my fellow Students to ensure a successful collegiate journey.

Hey! My name is Jennifer, but you can call me Jen. I identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I'm a mom of two (a 20-year old son who is neurodiverse, and a 12 year old daughter). I’ve been with my husband since 2004, married since 2008. I received my AA in Sociology from GCC in 2023. I changed my major to Social Work and finished those prereqs in Spring 2024. I am attending ASU Watts College of Public Service at West for Social Work starting Fall 2024. I received the All Arizona Academic Team Scholarship from Phi Theta Kappa. It provides me with a full ride for my Bachelors. My career goal is to be an AASECT certified sex therapist and sexual educator. I have ADHD (squirrel!) and Multiple Sclerosis. I'm into anime, playing D&D for six hours every Saturday, playing Fortnite, Billie Eilish, and The Weeknd. I'm a safe space, and an open book.

Hello! I’m Jasmine, and I started here at Glendale Community College working on my Associates in Psychology straight out of high school, not knowing the full potential of college. After being introduced to the PSC Program, I found myself blooming into a brand new flower as my academic and professional world had so many new opportunities opened. I am passionate about being a coach to help students who were just like me find their sparkle. I’m currently in my fourth year of college studying for my Bachelor’s in Psychology at Arizona State University. Once I receive my degree, I plan to continue studying pre-med courses post-baccalaureate with the goal of becoming a Psychiatrist.

As a Peer Success Coach, I am here to help answer questions you didn’t even think to ask. We will work together to stay on top of your success, whatever that may look like to you!

I am a 39-year-old mother of teenagers, currently balancing my responsibilities as a full-time student and part-time employee at GCC. I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Fitness and Wellness, with graduation anticipated in two years.

Throughout my journey, I have encountered various challenges, but, with the support of my coach, I have developed strategies to navigate these difficult times and emerge stronger. It is important to recognize that setting ourselves up for success is an ongoing journey filled with valuable learning experiences. Together, we can address these challenges effectively, as we often gain the most insight from our mistakes rather than from our successes.

Hello, my name is Michael Hodges, and I am proud to be a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. I am currently pursuing my Associate’s Degree in Secondary Education at GCC, with the goal of transferring to ASU to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, specializing in History. I have a strong passion for various interests, including video games, Dungeons & Dragons, board games, and other engaging activities.

My experience at GCC has been highly transformative, enriched by moments of personal and academic growth, supported by mentors who have played a crucial role in my development. This experience has inspired me to give back by becoming a coach and providing support and encouragement to the next generation of learners. My name is Mena - (Mee-naa). I am a current student at GCC pursuing my Associate’s of Science in Behavioral Health Sciences. I will be graduating in the Spring then continuing on to obtain my Bachelor Degree at NAU in the Spring as well. I am originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota & my family is from Savannah, Georgia. The majority of my life has been slipped between both states. I pride myself on my Southern Hospitality aspects & learnings in life. Fashion, clothes, & styling is my passion. I own a clothing brand, I am a graphic designer, & creator. Along with that I do photography, host events, & actively participate with music, musicians & all types of talented artists. I do volunteering & work actively in the community alongside several different committees. I am also the President of the Black Student Union Club here at GCC. Hi everyone! My name is Valeria, but you can just call me Val. I am currently majoring in Behavioral Sciences and Human Services here at GCC and am hoping to graduate in spring of 2025. I'm part of the NAU 90/30 program, so after receiving my AA I plan on transferring to NAU and receiving my Bachelor's degree.

I am a second generation immigrant and the first person in my family to pursue a college education and am extremely proud to say that I wouldn't have been able to do it without the support of my family! Since I am currently balancing an internship, a part-time position at GCC, my position as a secretary, as well as my responsibilities as a full-time student I definitely understand how busy things can get and can provide some tips for time-management and general life stuff! I'm into anime, crocheting, antique shopping, and love listening to new and old artists.

Hello, my name is Kimberly, and I am the Peer Success Program Coordinator. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Arizona State University and am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Business Administration. I am proud to be the first in my family to earn a degree and am a daughter of immigrants.

Although I don’t manage a caseload like our dedicated coaches, I am here to assist students with general questions about the Peer Success Program, workshop resources, collaboration opportunities, the Peer Success Scholarship, and coach feedback.

Students often reach out to share how much their coaches have helped them and to offer kudos. I welcome students to our Hub and am always ready to assist anyone who may need help with various student affairs areas.
