Bio
Biography
I am an educational psychologist interested in all things learning! I started my career as an elementary school teacher and K-12 professional learning specialist for 17 years before earning my doctorate in educational psychology with a concentration in the learning sciences. Educational psychology is a multi-disciplinary field, and as such I have taught college courses in psychology, education, family/human development, and sociology for more than a decade. My work higher education also includes serving as a new teacher induction specialist, cognitive and instructional coach, research project director, and university-school program liaison.
As a residential faculty member at Glendale Community College, my goal is to offer my students the best learning experience possible. I accomplish this through instructional design that includes many opportunities for students to be actively engaged. In addition, I work hard to help my students see the instrumentality of what they are learning by getting to know their goals and using real-life contexts in my teaching. Many years ago, I was lit on fire by my PSY 101 course as an undergraduate student at ASU, and I want my students to feel that same excitement about their learning.
My other passions include teacher professional development, trauma-informed educational practices, and the scientific communication of psychology to public audiences.
