Bio
Biography
Dr. Julie Bauer Morrison grew up in Phoenix and attended Xavier College Prep. While there she worked at Teen Lifeline, a teen crisis hotline, and became interested in the field of psychology. She went to Texas Christian University and majored in Psychology with a minor in Communication. After working with faculty in their research labs, Dr. Morrison decided to pursue a career in teaching and research rather than one as a clinical or counseling psychologist. She was accepted into the Stanford University PhD program and spent the next five years earning her doctorate doing research on the effects of animation on learning.
Dr. Morrison worked in the User Interface Research group at the Palo Alto Research Center for several years and, among other projects, studied how people searched for and found information online before Google. Dr. Morrison then began her teaching career at Bryant University in Rhode Island. After four years, she decided to move home to Arizona. She accepted a position at Glendale Community College, where she is able to spend more time working with students both in and out of the classroom. Dr. Morrison teaches PSY101 Introduction to Psychology and PSY290 Research Methods. She currently serves as the Psychology Department Chairperson and as the Director of the College Assessment & Review Team.
