Every year, 15 Major League Baseball teams arrive in the Valley for Cactus League Spring Training. This year, a group of GCC Exercise Science students had a chance to visit the Cincinnati Reds' strength and conditioning facility. This was a unique opportunity to not only explore the facility, but to see state-of-the-art training equipment and observe it being used. The GCC students also had a chance to learn about the team’s performance strategies. The Cincinnati Reds’ Director of Performance held an engaging Q&A session.
Throughout the entire experience, the GCC students gained valuable insights into the practical applications of exercise science in professional sports. Seeing the facility, equipment and talking with the Reds’ Strength & Conditioning staff gave the GCC students a deeper understanding of the role strength and conditioning plays in athlete development and performance.
