The Importance of Developing Communication Skills for STEM Students

Increase your earning power and job opportunities by having both because in your career you’ll need to get along with others, work on teams, understand cultural differences in the workplace and yes, someday you might even want to give a presentation.
Opportunities for Biotech Students
Tuesday, September 20, 2:30 p.m.
In this 3-in-1 session, Biotech Students will learn about GCC Biotechnology opportunities including:
- STEM Train Scholarship: This is a unique opportunity to do hands-on mentored lab research and receive up to $4,000/semester in funding while gaining lab experience
- The GCC/ASU West Concurrent Enrollment Partnership: This pathway leads to the Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS), Concentration in Cell and Molecular Biology Research. You can start on your Bachelor's while working on your associate degree. Dive into hands-on research sooner than with a traditional transfer program and complete more classes at the GCC rate.
- Helios Scholars at TGen: A paid, eight-week summer internship program in biomedical research. Interns work full-time on a research project under the mentorship of a TGen scientist.

Overcoming Obstacles with a Growth Mindset

Life throws a lot of obstacles our way and it is our mindset toward those challenges that determine the outcome. Our individual success and happiness are directly related to the ability to dispute irrational thoughts and self-sabotage during times of stress and anxiety. During this workshop, participants will be introduced to the concept of a growth mindset and be able to develop strategies that offer a positive outcome. It is up to us to create the best possible plan to move forward and succeed academically, personally and professionally.
