Next Steps to Graduation

Applying for graduation is REQUIRED to be awarded your degree or certificate. Please follow the below steps to complete the application process.

Participation in the spring commencement ceremony is optional. A cap and gown are required if you are participating in the ceremony. There is no fee to apply for a certificate/degree.

Graduation Application Deadlines

  • Fall Graduation - December 20, 2024
  • Spring Graduation - April 1, 2025
  • Summer Graduation - August 1, 2025 
    • Summer graduates who apply before April 16, 2025, will be invited to participate in the Spring 2025 commencement ceremony.

*Applications submitted after a semester’s deadline may not be processed until the next semester.

Step 1 – Verify Your Academic Records are Complete and Correct

  • Verify that Non-Maricopa Transfer Credit has been posted to GGC records
  • Verify your mailing address is correct
  • Verify graduation requirements have been met
    • Check your Degree Progress Report in your Student Center.
    • If you have any questions, please contact your advisor. Fill out our Advisement Intake form to schedule an appointment.

Step 2 - Submit Your Graduation Application

  • Complete the Online Graduation Application
    • There is no fee to submit the Online Graduation Application
    • You will be asked to submit your program plan code number and the name of the degree or certificate for each degree or certificate you completed. If you are unsure, please go to the Degrees & Certificates A-Z list to locate your award.
       

What Happens Next?

  • GCC will review your Graduation Application
    • Updates will be sent to your Maricopa email as your application is completing the review process
  • After the Final Grade Due Date for your graduation semester has passed, GCC will verify your graduation eligibility
    • Applicants who have COMPLETED all degree requirements will be awarded within 6 weeks of final grades being posted.
    • Applicants who have NOT COMPLETED all degree requirements will need to continue enrollment and re-apply for graduation in a future semester.
  • Diplomas will be mailed through USPS to the address listed in the Student Center.
