Film & Media Production

Film & Media Production

The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Film and Media Production program has an academic-based curriculum that combines the technical, artistic, and historic elements of film and television production. Students receive comprehensive instruction in craft, process, and theory behind visual storytelling, with hands-on experience in all major production areas including writing, producing, cinematography, audio, directing and editing.

GCC is integral in the movement to train the next fleet of film crew as film and television production is welcomed back to Arizona. Along with other colleges across the state, we have partnered with the Arizona Commerce Authority to provide 5-day Production Assistant workshops to develop our 'Film Ready Crew'!

Film and Media Production

The Film and Media Production program is designed to help students develop the creative and technical skills needed to work in the competitive film and video industries. Small classes in a supportive atmosphere provide students with hands-on experience and easy access to faculty and staff. Students are mentored as they develop their craft through the creation of their own films and videos, and gain additional firsthand experience crewing on other productions. Class activity is supplemented by lectures from experts in the film community, field trips to production studios, and participation in local film events.

Additionally, a range of state-of-the-art equipment is available to use both in the studio and on-location, providing students with the opportunities to develop their skills and professionalism with "real world" projects. Students can also explore their craft further by producing a capstone film, or pursuing an internship in their production area of interest.
