Bio
Biography
I have been teaching at GCC since 1997, first as an adjunct and then as a formal full-time instructor starting in 2000. I am happy to have merged my two loves - geology and teaching - in my work here at GCC for over 20 years. My goal is to help students see the world in a new way through science and to encourage them to appreciate the natural world around them.
My educational background includes a Bachelor's of Science in Geology with minors in math & combined science from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX followed by a Master's of Science in Geology from Arizona State University. My theses, both for my Bachelor's and Master's, centered on studies of igneous and volcanic rocks and their origin and geochemistry. I have completed additional advanced degree coursework in science education. I draw upon this background, and my memory of what it feels like to be a student, to make my classroom a welcoming and supporting environment.
