Bio
Biography
Professor Lang has taught biology at GCC since 2015. Although he initially studied for a career in healthcare, he found a passion for environmental issues while an undergraduate at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) and became the founding president of the UHD Environmental Club. That experience solidified his decision to begin pursuing an advanced degree in environmental biology, and he earned his M.S. in Environmental Biology at Baylor University in 2007.
As a graduate student, he performed streams and wetlands bio assessments to assess potential ecological effects of anthropogenic nutrient influx into these ecosystems and subsequently had scientific journal articles published about his research. Prior to teaching at GCC, he taught biology courses at UHD and in the Lone Star College System. While teaching at UHD, he also served as an undergraduate research advisor.
In addition to his interests in environmental biology, he is passionate about topics in health, nutrition, and genetic genealogy, and has taught Environmental Science, Anatomy & Physiology, and Applied Nutrition courses at Grand Canyon University. He has also given guest lectures about genetic genealogy, a hobby of his.
Professor Lang brings his passion and enthusiasm for biology to the classroom. He enjoys explaining why topics in biology are important in our everyday lives, in the future careers of students, and as members of society.
