Meet Kaitlin, a GCC student-athlete who is earning top honors in the classroom and has just been selected to join the NJCAA Student Advisory Council.
Congratulations to Kaitlin Bruchhauser for being selected to join the Student Athletic Advisory Council at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), where she will represent Glendale Community College, Region 1 and the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC).
“This is a tremendous honor for Kaitlin,” commented Peter Oliszczak, GCC Director of Athletics. He added. “Kaitlin is the first person from GCC to get this invitation and the first female athlete from the ACCAC.”
The NJCAA Student Athletic Advisory Council addresses student-athlete welfare issues such as academic standards, per diems, tutoring and basic needs resources, and ways to improve the student-athlete experience. The group will interact with the National Collegiate Athletic Association to discuss related matters of importance for student-athletes across the United States.
Kaitlin is a member of the GCC Student Athletic Advisory Council and a member of the Honors College. She maintains an overall 4.00 GPA and is working towards a degree in Biomedical Science with a minor in Psychology. In her years at GCC Kaitlin has received the following awards:
- NJCAA All-American Academic First Team -- 2019-20
- President’s Honors List -- Fall 2018, Spring 2019, Fall 2019, Spring 2020
- High Academic Achievement Award -- 2018-19, 2019-20
- Biology Department Outstanding Student Achievement Award -- 2018-2019
